International Army Games 2019 – Seaborne Assault

The Seaborne Assault event of the 2019 International Army Games has been taking place this week at Baltiysk in Kaliningrad on the Baltic Coast.

Organised by the Russian Ministry of Defence, this year’s International Army Games consist of 32 separate events, held at training areas and military bases across ten countries, with teams from around 30 nations participating.

The Seaborne Assault event, hosted by the People’s Republic of China, is being held in the Kaliningrad Oblast, a Russian exclave on the Baltic Coast between Poland and Lithuania, with teams from China, Iran, Russia and Venezuela taking part. Each team consists of a 24-strong Naval Infantry Platoon (plus reserves and coaches etc.) and both equipment and armament are provided by China. Weapons listed for this event are 5.8mm QBZ-03 Assault Rifles, 5.8mm Light Machine Guns, 7.62mm Sniper Rifles and Type 69 Rocket Propelled Grenades with primary transport being the ZBD-05 Marine Infantry Combat Vehicle. Stages include an Obstacle Course, Survival Trail and Relay Race. Helmets and plate carriers appear to be Russian with EMR camo pattern covers.
