Our friends at East-West Trading are now distributing Marathon military watches to the UK retail sector and sent us a GPQ model for evaluation, writes Bob Morrison.

Some people treat wristwatches as fashion items (are your ears burning, Ramilla?) but to me a watch is a purely functional item of kit and something I am never without when on assignment or travelling etc. For a great many years I have primarily worn an old, but phenomenally reliable, Luminox Navy Seal watch on my left wrist (and more recently also a basic smartwatch on my right for health monitoring) but as this stalwart really deserves a rest the offer of a Marathon GPQ military watch for evaluation was quite timely.
I have now been wearing a black Marathon GPQ (General Purpose Quartz) military field watch (NSN:6645-01-318-9833) for ten days and my initial impressions are very favourable indeed. However, just to be on the safe side, I plan to wear it around the clock for a little longer before penning a full review.
To be continued…..
