EDZ Merino wool calf length boot socks are ideal for those long days on your feet in boots when hiking or trekking, writes Mike Gormley.

I put these socks on as soon as they arrived and have been wearing them ever since. Within the hour I was out walking and there was that immediate feel-good sensation of comfort, so I just knew these would be fine.
Merino wool is, of course, a good shout with outdoor gear. Comfortable, warm when cold and temperature controlled if it gets warm, which we know is often the case for hard-worked feet. These socks from EDZ have additional padding around the heel and toe areas where impact and wear is greatest.

The principal material is Merino wool, at 64%, so we can also look forward to bacteria-free (therefore odour-free) socks and this natural material is backed up by Nylon and Elastane for added durability and comfort. With all these credentials these socks should be great for long term use and multi-day trips with a lot of miles passing under the boots. In just the few days I have had these the pedometer is already ticking up the distance.
It is a while since I have covered a product from EDZ, other than a recent Merino Wool Fingerless Gloves review, but I still have some of their earlier garments that have been in use for years now. As small company based in Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District, they appreciate the need for good kit. More to come from EDZ before too long.
