Keeping your valued kit dry is essential and the Snugpak Aquacover should help if fitted around your rucksack to protect in the wet, writes Mike Gormley .

‘Keep it Simple’ is a well known saying and I think this Aquacover protective rucksack from Snugpak cover falls into this category.
A basic and simple nylon cover which not only suits Snugpak’s own range of rucksacks (it has fixings for these) but other types as well. The range of covers come in five sizes from 25-litre through to 100-litre sacks so to offer a decent fit for different sizes of rucksacks without being oversized and flappy.
Colours in the range usually include Black, Olive and Desert Tan but there are occasionally some others. These covers are of waterproof, 100% nylon ripstop material and obviously protect the gear from rain and abrasion plus general wear and tear. You can also fine tune the colours to suit the environment you are operating in at the time.
Aquacovers are simple to take on and off, so can be used any time your rucksack is in use. The cover is fitted with an adjustable elasticated draw cord and cord lock. The Aquacover seen here is the 70-litre version, comes with its own vented stuff bag for convenient stowage when not in use.
The Moorland Training Group I work with bought a large number of these so all the young people in the various walking groups could be seen during the Dartmoor Ten Tors earlier this year; very handy for team identification as well as keeping their kit protected from the elements. I think we may have completely depleted the supply of hi-vis lime as this colour is currently not showing on the Snugpak website, though it might still be available from some retailers.
