With in excess of one hundred companies from more than twenty countries participating in HEMUS 2022, the XV International Defence Equipment and Services Exhibition running from 01 to 04 June, Plovdiv is a really interesting place to be. The Bulgarian Armed Forces are currently seriously modernising and re-equipping, so there is plenty to see at this predominantly regional defence show.

The Bulgarian MoD is relaunching its wheeled armoured infantry vehicle programme and several of the 8×8 potential contenders are on display, including a couple of local candidates to challenge the more familiar international big name manufacturers. With Eurosatory 2022 in Paris little more than ten days away, the logistics of moving civilian registered armoured vehicles in this category from country to country mean that not all potential tenderers have full-size vehicles on show this week in Plovdiv. However there is more than enough here to keep me snapping until I have to depart for my next assignment… but that is another story for another day.

Things are going to be a little bit hectic for both myself and Carl on this side of the Summer Solstice, but rest assured we already have a shedload of images and research done to keep this website busy throughout the summer. Incidentally, I will not be at OTS 2022 next week, but Mike is already cleaning the peat off his boots in preparation for pounding the carpets in Liverpool.
