HEMUS, the Bulgarian Defence, Anti-Terrorism and Security Exhibition closed its doors this afternoon ending the 2020 EMEA defence expo season, reports Bob Morrison.

The recent COVID-related cancellations or postponements of Future Forces Forum in Prague, Defence Vehicle Dynamics in the UK and EDEX in Cairo mean that HEMUS has been the last EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) defence show of 2020. Normally we would be otherwise engaged at the time when HEMUS takes place in Plovdiv and although this bijou expo has now been running for 25 years I have never been able to fit it into my schedule before. That omission has now been remedied and before the Bulgarian expo closed its doors I paid it a very brief visit. Stand by for a couple of country-specific features in the not too distant future, including a look at the probable contenders for Bulgaria’s next 8×8 armoured vehicle requirement and a Kit & Camo article on the new Bulgarian Army and Air Force camouflage patterns.
