The Stanley Aerolight Transit Bottle 0.47L is a travel mug to either take away on trips or just use at home and in the garden, writes Mike Gormley.

Quite a lot of hot / cold drinks mugs tend to be quite chunky and heavy but, as its name suggests, at 240 grammes this one isn’t.

Prior to my trip to Antarctica I was looking for a lightweight mug to take with me on my travels. The Aerolight Transit Bottle from Stanley has no handles or funky shapes, so is easy to pack, and it takes a pair of clean socks or two inside when you pack it.

Always handy to have and saves using the inevitable plastic or paper/card cups which only go in the bin; so this does your bit to save on the single-use items and keeps things a bit more ‘personal’ as well. It is made from 18/8 stainless steel and dishwasher-proof when it needs a good clean.

To keep weight to a minimum this mug has a simple flip cap on the screw-in top. This has a very positive close and open cap and certainly for me was completely leak-free. Not a lot to go wrong and easy to clean when on the go. I would often get a brew and then slip this in my pocket for later so it would get a good old shaking as I walked about and it was good as gold. When you need a ‘wet’ or ‘brew’ it is a one-handed job to flip the top open and away you go. Pop it shut and back in the pocket for later.

The flip cap can be operated single-handed so is handy when busy [©MG]

This one is Blue and there are a variety of others including Black.
