Pretty much whenever you venture out it is sensible to take a first aid kit with you. LIFESYSTEMS offer a range of these to suit specific needs. However here I take a look at their Waterproof First Aid Kit.

This LIFESYSTEMS kit when rolled and stowed in its dry-bag is compact, durable and above all, waterproof / dustproof [©MG]

Clearly it is no good to have your first aid kit reduced to a soggy mush just when you need it, so for many outdoors folk this pack seems a bit of an obvious choice. It will also work to keep out the dust. Really the waterproof part is a suitably coloured and identifiable, but robust, dry-pack that suits the size of the basic first aid kit contents within. The contents of a such a kit will be a bit subjective to your own needs but for sure this contains many of the items most likely to be required and is a very good base on which to build, if you feel you need to. The inner part of the kit is in the form of a kit roll with suitable pockets to keep some order and, usefully, an aide memoir for first aid. The outer dry-bag could also work as a bucket / bowl if you need to contain water to wash wounds in a medical situation.

This kit will be part of the range of gear I am helping to sort out for a pal, Ben, who is embarking on a walk down Africa… but more on that topic another day.
