Russian military doctors, with Italian colleagues, began round-the-clock duty for the treatment of patients with Coronavirus infection in a field hospital in Bergamo.

News Release, 08 April 2020: Russian military doctors, together with their Italian colleagues, started receiving and treating patients with Coronavirus infection in a field hospital in Bergamo. On the Russian side, the hospital has 8 medical and nursing teams that receive and treat patients in all intensive care units and departments for the treatment of patients with severe and moderate stages. In total, 32 Russian military doctors and nurses were involved in the treatment of patients in the field hospital.
The duty of medical and nursing teams is organised around the clock in 3 shifts. The hospital has 142 beds. It will employ more than 200 Italian and Russian specialists. In addition, Russian military specialists carried out disinfection in homes for the elderly in three localities in Lombardy in the cities of Calcio, Cvidate-al-Piano, Colone-al-Serio.
In total, Russian military doctors-epidemiologists and specialists of NBC protection troops of Russian Defence Ministry, together with Italian military specialists, carried out a complete disinfection of boarding houses for the elderly in 33 localities in Lombardy. More than 37 buildings and structures, more than 220 thousand square meters of internal space and more than 20 thousand square meters of paved roads are processed.

News Release, 07 April 2019: During a teleconference with the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Major General Sergey Kikot, the head of the combined detachment of the Russian Defence Ministry in the Italian Republic – Deputy chief of the NBC protection forces, reported to the head of the military Department, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, on the implementation of tasks by Russian military personnel to combat the spread of Coronavirus infection in the city of Bergamo (Lombardy, Italy).
“The combined detachment in the Italian Republic carried out a set of disinfection measures in 36 of 65 medical and health facilities with an unfavourable epidemiological situation in the province of Bergamo in the Lombardy region,” Sergey Kikot reported.
More than 270 thousand square meters of internal space, adjacent territories and roads were decontaminated. The medical and nursing teams of medical service perform round-the-clock duty and treatment of patients in the field hospital of the city of Bergamo.
“The personnel are healthy, provided with all types of allowances, and the equipment is in good condition,” added the head of the combined detachment of the Russian Defence Ministry in Bergamo.
