UNION COURAGE ~ Russian Units Relocate To Belarus

Russian Federation armed forces units involved in the inspection of the reaction forces of the Union State relocate to the Republic of Belarus.

News Release, Moscow, 28 January 2022: The units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation involved in the inspection of the reaction forces of the Union State continue to relocate to the Republic of Belarus.

As part of the ongoing activities, the next train with equipment of the CSS units of the Eastern Military District left the Amur region for the Republic of Belarus. Upon arrival at the destination, the personnel will march on standard equipment to the specified areas, where they will carry out a set of measures for the engineering equipment of field camps and combat vehicle parks.

The servicemen involved in the inspection of the reaction forces of the Union State will have to perform a number of training tasks for their intended purpose at unfamiliar training grounds of the Republic of Belarus.

News Release, Moscow, 21 January 2022: Two divisions of anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMS) S-400 Triumph of the air force and air defence formation of the Eastern Military District, involved in the inspection the reaction forces of the Union State, marched to the loading station in the Khabarovsk territory, where they loaded equipment onto railway platforms.

Air defence units will march in a combined way by rail and on their own to unfamiliar training grounds of the Republic of Belarus. Upon arrival at the places where training tasks are performed, Russian servicemen will carry out equipment and camouflage of launch positions, maintenance of equipment and take up training combat duty on air defence as part of the unified regional air defence system of Belarus and Russia.

The inspection will take place in two stages.

At the first stage, by February 9, the redeployment and creation of groups of troops (forces) will be carried out as soon as possible on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the organisation of the protection and defence of important state and military facilities, the protection of the state border in the airspace, checking the readiness and ability of the air defence forces and means on duty to perform tasks to cover important objects on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

During the second stage of the inspection (from February 10 to 20), a joint exercise UNION COURAGE 2022 will be held, within the framework of which the issues of suppressing and repelling external aggression, as well as countering terrorism and protecting the interests of the Union State will be worked out.

During the exercise, measures will be taken to strengthen the protection of the state border to prevent the penetration of armed groups of militants, to block the channels of weapons and ammunition delivery, as well as to search, block, destroy illegal armed formations and sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the enemy.

The practical actions of the troops (forces) will take place at the ranges Domanovsky, Gozhsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Brestsky and Osipovichsky, as well as certain areas of the terrain located on the territory of the Republic of Belarus. It is planned to use the airfields Baranovichi, Luninets, Lida and Machulishchi.

The number of military personnel and equipment involved in the exercise, which falls under the Vienna Document of 2011, does not exceed the parameters defined by it, which are subject to notification.
