Press Release, Bucharest, 04 June 2024: [auto-translated] Representatives of MBDA and IAR Brasov signed an agreement to support the integration of Marte ER anti-ship missiles with Airbus H215M helicopters of the Romanian Navy. Thanks to its excellent performance, Marte ER will provide the Romanian Navy with the ability to counter surface vessels, enabling the effective protection of national interests.

The concluded contract is an important moment in MBDA’s cooperation with the Romanian Armed Forces. Arnaud Rousset, MBDA Vice President for Europe, said: “As the European leader in advanced weapons systems, MBDA is best placed to meet the challenges facing Europe by strengthening Europe’s vital defense capabilities. We are proud to contribute to the strategic autonomy of the Romanian Armed Forces and will continue to act as their trusted partner, offering a comprehensive offer tailored to current and future needs.”

MBDA will work with IAR Brasov and Airbus, as well as other partners, to achieve full integration of Marte ER with H215M helicopter systems. The concluded contract is another success of the Marte missile family, which has already been integrated into many platforms of the Italian armed forces and several other export customers.

The Marte ER missile represents the latest generation of missiles in this family. Designed to operate in all weather conditions, it ensures effective destruction of the target at a distance of over 100 km. It allows for automatic and manual determination of navigation points, and can be launched in salvos and also attack land objects. It is able to deal with both kinetic and non-kinetic ship self-defense systems.
