US Navy and Spain Order Naval Strike Missiles

KONGSBERG has received an order for Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) for a US Navy programme and confirmation Spain will also acquire the NSM.

Press Release, Kongsberg, 09 September 2022: Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS (KONGSBERG) has received an order from Raytheon Missiles & Defence for Naval Strike Missiles (NSM) to the US Navy Over-The-Horizon Weapon System (OTH WS) programme worth MNOK 328. Raytheon is prime contractor to the US Navy.

The order is related to the OTH WS framework agreement announced 31 May 2018 with a total cumulative scope of BNOK 7.8. So far, KONGSBERG has received orders for MNOK 1,762 under this framework agreement.

“We register a significant increase in the annual call-offs. This creates jobs and demand for increased production capacity, both for us and our suppliers. As announced at KONGSBERG’s CMD in June, the company has started a significant investment in a new missile factory”, says Director of the Missile Division Øyvind Kolset.

Press Release, Kongsberg, 09 September 2022: KONGSBERG has received a confirmation that the Spanish Navy will acquire the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) to replace the Harpoon missile when this is retired from active service. The Spanish Navy plans to equip both the existing F-100 and the new F-110 with NSM. Additional information will be announced when the contract is awarded.

KONGSBERG cannot provide any further comment on the potential size of this contract.
