Today we are actioning a major upgrade to the JOINT-FORCES.COM defence news and features portal to maintain functionality and speed things up.
~
A little over eleven months ago our web development team, Jo and Nick, extended the lifespan of JOINT-FORCES by migrating everything to a much larger and faster server. However with well over 8,000 pages available across the website at that time, and as I was/am reluctant to remove any pages from our online archive because I am well aware some military researchers and historians consider them to be a valuable resource, J&N advised that we really needed to start undertaking a major redesign and upgrade to ensure continued functionality.
That work has now reached completion and the shadow test site has been checked and rechecked to allow what is effectively JOINT-FORCES version 2.0 to go live today. While the changeover is in progress we will be completely offline, hopefully for just a couple of hours, but over the weekend there could be further brief periods of downtime while what is now a total of nearly 9,200 pages are brought fully up to speed. Hopefully the redesign should not actually look very different across most platforms but some menus and content displays will change slightly and some functions which are not used anything like as much today as they were when we first started up over eight years ago will be shelved.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused and excuse us for any bugs that might slip through. See you on the other side.
