Gregory Alpaca Gear Pods

Alpaca Gear Pods from Gregory have padded bottom and sides keep gear protected and a zipped mesh lid for easy identification, writes Mike Gormley.

Regular readers may have seen my review on the 45-litre Gregory Alpaca Gear Box in January this year. I reckon these 5-litre and 10-litre Gear Pods from the same company are a must-have addition to the Gear Box to help keep kit both organised and protected in transit.

Measuring 28x17x11cm and 36x24x11cm respectively, they fit neatly into the Gear Box either as a set or in combination. I have to say I find these indispensable to help organise my kit for,and during, a trip away; be that a day trip or a much longer expedition. I can happily strap the Gear Box onto my Land Rover roof rack or just stack it in the back and with the Gear Pods my gear stays organised and secure.

The Gear Pods are well thought out, light and yet protective, and with mesh see-through tops I can see what is inside each one. Very handy. The zip is dual slider so opens either way and opens fully. The grab handle on the top makes handling and carrying easy so I can pull the selected Pod out of the Box; saves a lot of rummaging about. There are also two colours, Slate Blue and Mirage Tan, so to a point you can colour code contents; say clothing one and small kit in the other.

I have used my Gear Pods a lot now and they show every sign of lasting years of use, but if they don’t they are covered by Gregory’s life guarantee. I have used mine for storing clothes, keeping food in, and organising camp kit etc. I have also used them in my rucksack for separating spare clothing and cooking kit. They are easy to pull out when needed and prevent those small items slipping to the bottom to be lost until you eventually get back home.

These Gear Pods certainly help organise your life away, and, if you are anything like me you need all the help you can get. Especially on a multi-day excursion.
