Craghoppers Kiwi Pro Active Trousers

I first tried these Kiwi Pro Active Trousers out in Snowdonia early this year ~ seen here with Craghoppers Compress Lite jacket [© Jean Gormley]

Craghoppers produce good kit and these Kiwi Pro Active Trousers, in my opinion, are right in there, writes Mike Gormley.

These Kiwi Pro Active Trousers are, as with many Craghoppers garments, good honest outdoor gear and have a lot of good features for those that venture out ‘on the hill’. Comfort is helped along by the use of part-recycled stretch fabric, which is also a close weave which biting insects find difficult to penetrate. It also offers protection from the sun if you are lucky enough to be out in it, but if wet it will also keep at least some of this off as well.

The entire backside area is given protection by the dual layer of extra fabric and also note the zip fastened rear pocket with easy-pull zip extension cord ~ simple perhaps, but very handy [©MG]

The areas which suffer the harder treatment are reinforced to enhance the overall life and durability and also help to make the look more interesting. Small but important features are added such as pull tags on the zips, which all help to make life a bit easier. Craghoppers often have a few handy, somewhat hidden, features such as the tucked away waistband adjustment, slightly padded waistband and inner protection around the bottoms of the legs, which are also adjustable. The pockets are useful; there is a good leg pocket, the side pockets have warm feel lining, and one has an attached glasses / spectacles wipe cloth. Someone at Craghoppers is thinking about things.

The reinforced knees are a really good feature on the stretch main fabric ~ here also showing the zipped leg pocket [©MG]
A neat addition is a glasses wipe on one of the zipped side pockets ~ great for both your ‘sunnies’ or normal spectacles [©MG]
The adjustable hems of the legs have a protective fabric strip where boots will rub [©MG]

The only issue I have with these is that I have long ‘country boy’ legs, and not ones like our current Prime Minister, so they are a bit of a snug fit on me. But other than that, these are great trousers.
