INDRA 2018 ~ Russian-Indian Bilateral Exercise

Indian servicemen demonstrate actions to their Russian colleagues from the Eastern Military District within main episode of INDRA 2018 exercise.

 

Press Release, 21 November 2018: As part of the INDRA 2018 Russian-Indian bilateral exercise the Indian servicemen conducted a demonstration of the main episode of the exercise – the liberation of a locality seized by terrorists – for the Russian military personnel. Simulated town with several streets and dwelling houses was built at the Babina training ground in the state of Uttar Pradesh for this stage.

Seven T-90 tank units from the 31st Armoured Division of the Armed Forces of India moved first to the seized locality. Then they were joined by BMP-2 Infantry Fighting Vehicles. Having deployed in battle formations, vehicles delivered assault groups to the village.

 

According to the plan of the INDRA 2018 exercise, while performing this episode a reinforced motorised rifle battalion of the combined arms army of the Eastern Military District will act on the right flank and accomplish tasks jointly with the Indian side. Earlier the Russian military personnel has been provided by the Indian side with 14 BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and seven T-90 tank units.

 

The INDRA 2018 exercise is to be held on November 18-28. In total 500 troops from the Russian and Indian armed forces are involved in the drills.
