Cold Weather ~ Any Mug Can Be Uncomfortable

These days, unless one has strange masochistic tendencies, there are few excuses for being needlessly uncomfortable in dismal cold weather, writes Bob Morrison.

Much as I prefer Jordan or the Emirates in late spring to Norway or the Baltic States in late autumn, just occasionally I have to head off to those colder climes to do my job. Catch me on camera during such assignments, something which fortunately does not happen too often, and I will not exactly look suave, sophisticated and debonair (not that I am a fashion icon when wearing my khaki shirt, chinos and shemagh in the desert) but at least I will be as comfortable as it is possible to be in such conditions.

On my recent late autumn assignment to the mountainous and landlocked Hedmark and Oppland counties of Norway I ensured I stayed warm by wearing a Rab Neutrino Pro Military goose down insulated jacket, which performed above and beyond expectations. Indeed on the milder days of the trip I was so warm that I consigned my Snugpak 2nd Skinz thermal top to the side pouch on my daysack and just wore a 5.11 shirt underneath the Neutrino.

Exclusive to TREKITT of Hereford, who teamed up with expedition clothing manufacturer Rab to produce this more tactical version, the Neutrino Pro Military does not feature the reflective Rab logo on the left breast and it also features two very useful extra internal mesh dump pockets at the front in addition to the usual handwarmer and internal document pockets. You can read more about it on this page – Rab Neutrino Pro Military ~ From TREKITT of Hereford.

Initially priced at £300 (discounted to £270 for military buyers) until they gauged demand, this jacket has already proved so popular that yesterday TREKITT were able to bring the price down to £235 and they hope to be able to keep it at that figure until Christmas. This is NOT a short term ‘Black Friday’ offer but stocks at this price will not last forever so don’t leave it too long to snap one up – and as this jacket is currently available in five sizes from S through to XXL, what better Christmas pressie could there be for the other half in case the current El Niño effect brings us a very cold winter in 2019?
