2025 Poppies commemorative display at the Tower of London to mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War [© Sgt Donald C Todd]
80 years ago today, 08 May 1945, VE (Victory in Europe) Day marked the unconditional surrender of the Nazi forces formerly led by Adolph Hitler.

Unfortunately, open warfare returned to Europe three years ago when another dictatorial national leader invaded a neighbouring country and commenced slaughtering soldiers and civilians alike. I cannot, regrettably, be in Britain to watch local or national VE Day 80 commemorations as the defence industry is currently in full spate helping European nations rearm to hopefully thwart further expansionist plans of Putin. However although I am far from home the victims, and the few remaining survivors, of World War II were very much in my thoughts last night as I stood amongst wild poppies at sunset with the sound of waves breaking on a European shore as a backdrop.
We Will Remember!
