The Range 300 Headlamp from BioLite is a small but very handy and effective head torch with USB-C fast charging, writes Mike Gormley.

Not everyone needs a head torch like an aircraft landing light and more often than not, a small, compact, lightweight and simple device is plenty for many requirements. This is where the Biolite Range 300 comes into its own.

I took my Range 300 on our recent extended trip away more as a ‘just in case’ than with any specific needs in mind. It is light in weight, easy to pack away and simple to recharge. At the end of the day, as the name suggests, it has a 300 Lumen performance which is better than it might sound. This torch came in really handy on many occasions and proved to be well up to the task in every case.

The Range 300 Headlamp has a blended-in single strap adjustable headband so it is easy to adjust the fit to most headgear or none, as the case may be. The single top button is easy to operate and can be held down to adjust the brightness, which remains as set when turned on and off again until readjusted. It resumes full power quickly but dims slower making it easier to get this right. The light unit can be angled with click stops set to keep it in position. It is recharged by plugging in a USB-C cable, which I found makes it perfect for use with a power bank.

All in all, the BioLite Range 300 is a great little headtorch to pop in your pocket or rucksack so it is always to hand if or when needed.
