This update incorporates key advancements that significantly increase precision, operational safety, and performance in complex environments. The upgrade enhances the capabilities of this system – known for its light and compact design – enabling integration into a broad range of 4×4 vehicles without compromising stability or payload.
Designed to provide indirect fire from high-mobility light vehicles, EMOC features an open architecture compatible with various fire control systems and software, as well as EM&E Group’s smart mortar munitions, guaranteeing an error margin of less than 10 metres. Furthermore, the system represents a qualitative leap in tactical mobility, protection, and deployment speed; it can deploy and stow the mortar in less than 20 seconds, facilitating ‘shoot & scoot’ tactics and reducing exposure time to counter-battery threats. It also includes manual emergency override capabilities for both aiming and stowing, ensuring mission continuity in the face of unforeseen issues.
One of the most notable advancements in this evolution of the EMOC is the integration of an Inertial Navigation System (INS) directly onto the mortar tube, allowing ballistic calculations to be made from the exact point of the projectile’s departure. This innovation markedly improves accuracy, especially in environments where satellite signals are degraded, jammed, or unavailable, providing a critical operational advantage over conventional systems.
