As soon as the Selen arrived in the post Jean tried it for size and has used it ever since over the winter and now through the spring months, writes Mike Gormley.
First up, possibly a girl thing, she liked the look and fit of it. The blokes have not been left out as they have a version of this too, called the Rador, but I did not get one to try so have to rely on Jean’s feedback.
The Selen is new into the Sprayway range for the 2018 winter and also uses a new Sprayway insulation system. This has blown synthetic insulation material which has a very varied construction and is blown into narrow baffles, so it can expand to provide maximum insulation and trapped air. It is not adversely affected by rain and snow and should offer a good level of protection even if it becomes damp. The jacket will dry off quickly if it gets wet or after a wash.
This garment has a useful standard range of pockets with a zipped internal one for security. Elastine cuffs, hand pockets and hood surround add to comfort and resistance to wear; the Selen has a very good and usable hood for when the wind gets around your ears and it can also be used as a neck baffle.
This jacket is very light, at well under 400 grammes, and can easily be packed away in its own stuff sack so good as a ‘take with’ jacket or able to be stashed away when the day warms up. Nice one Sprayway.
The Selen is available in Mink (shown) Blackcurrant and Blazer. To find your nearest stockist go to sprayway.com/selen
