Rheinmetall Presents CML for FV-104 LMS

World premiere at Eurosatory 2026 ~ Rheinmetall presents the CML multi launcher for the FV-014 Loitering Munition System or LMS.

Press Release, Düsseldorf, 16 June 2026: Loitering Munition Systems (LMS) combine reconnaissance and strike capabilities in a single platform, significantly increasing firepower on the battlefields of the future. At Eurosatory 2026, Rheinmetall has unveiled for the first time a multi launcher for its LMS FV-014, the Containerised Missile Launcher (CML).

The CML is part of Rheinmetall’s reconnaissance and strike network. This innovative solution for maximum transparency in the operational area minimises reaction times, thereby ensuring a decisive advantage in protecting friendly forces – from the first signal in space to the impact on the ground. The Rheinmetall Battlesuite serves as the digital foundation for this integrated system. It provides the framework for the digitalisation of platforms, sensors, and weapons, and enables the seamless networking of existing and future systems through open and standardised interfaces. This allows information to be made available more quickly, reduces integration efforts, and enables the utilisation of existing capabilities from different manufacturers within a common command and information environment.

The CML is a fully autonomous, modular, and networked weapon system designed for flexible deployment on various platforms and rapid operational readiness. It is based on a logistically highly flexible 20-foot container capable of holding up to 18 FV-014 unmanned aerial vehicles. An integrated power supply and various communication modules enable unmanned operation.

The compact dimensions of the FV-014 and advanced swarm technology allow multiple unmanned aerial vehicles to be launched in a single salvo and controlled simultaneously by a single operator. The unmanned aerial vehicles have a range of up to 100 kilometres and an operational duration of up to 70 minutes.

The launcher’s open architecture is also designed for the quick and easy integration of other munitions. Furthermore, it can be adapted to a wide variety of vehicles as well as to country-specific command and control systems.

The CML features an integrated fire control and communication system that enables remote launch operations with multiple secure communication options. This minimises personnel requirements and improves automation. Through the Battlesuite Interface Collection, the CML can also be easily integrated into existing command, reconnaissance, and weapon systems. The collection of open interfaces utilises established military STANAGs as well as international standards such as ROS2 and MAVLink in addition to proprietary developments and is already available on GitHub, including a digital test environment.

Thanks to the Battlesuite architecture, the CML can be directly connected to a wide range of digital applications. These include solutions for tactical mission planning, autonomous UxV control, AI-supported target and object classification, multi-mode tracking, line-of-sight tracking, and counter-UAS applications – from Rheinmetall and its partners.

Equipped with a battery system and a sleep mode, the CML can operate autonomously and as a standalone solution over an extended period. An optional generator can further extend the operating time. Upon command, the system automatically switches from standby to active mode.

The standardised container format makes the CML compatible with civilian and military transport systems, including ships, trains, and trucks. This facilitates mobility, covert operations, and rapid deployment. The CML can be used both as a stand-alone system and from vehicles, rail cars, or ships. If required, smaller systems with a reduced footprint can also be implemented.

With the combination of the CML, FV-014, and Battlesuite, Rheinmetall will demonstrate at Eurosatory 2026 not only a new weapon system but an open digital combat network that integrates reconnaissance, command, and firepower into a single architecture.
