Ukrainian delegates from Special Forces Unit OMEGA at the recent SOFINS 25 conference were wearing combats in the new M23 Pattern camouflage, reports Bob Morrison.

Naturally, with the current situation on the ground in Ukraine, examples of the new M23 (sometimes designated MM-23) camouflage pattern are rarely spotted being worn outside the country it was designed for, so when I spotted a couple of SF Operators wearing examples of the new combat uniform at Camp de Souge I sought permission to take photographs. One of the pair, on hearing it was for our Kit & Camo section, kindly allowed me to take a couple of record snaps of the back panel of his combat shirt as well as of his unit patch; the latter confirming he serves with Special Forces Unit OMEGA. The lighting conditions inside the temporary building set up for the expo were not ideal for photos, but the digital pattern detail is clear enough and the three colours as reproduced here (bottle green and chestnut brown on light stone) are probably reasonably accurate.
