Defender is today revealing three new variants of the new Defender Wolf Series II, its next generation light mobility vehicle at DVD 2026.

Press Release, Millbrook, 16 September 2026: [embargoed until 11:00 BST] Defender is today revealing three new variants of the new Defender Wolf Series II, its next generation light mobility vehicle. Specified according to the UK Ministry of Defence Light Mobility Vehicle tender requirements, the new three variants include a Tactical Mobility Vehicle (TMV), Mono-Tactical Mobility Vehicle (M-TMV) and a Utility Vehicle (UV), on Defender’s modern platform, displayed today at the Millbrook proving ground in Bedfordshire.
These three are the first Defender Wolf Series II models, developed under JLR’s new Defender Defence Division to compete for the Ministry of Defence Light Mobility Vehicle tender, and for sale to NATO defence organisations. Defender Wolf Series II is British designed and engineered with British made engines and technologies and is based on Defender’s purpose-engineered D7x architecture and monocoque construction. It is Defender’s first military vehicle launch since the original Land Rover and Defender Wolf vehicles that served the British Armed Forces for more than 70 years. During development, Defender was tested to the extreme undergoing more than 62,000 tests for engineering sign-off, while the chassis and body architecture were engineered to withstand JLR’s Extreme Event Test procedure.

It is a modern successor to the world-famous Defender Wolf and Land Rovers that have served the British Armed Forces for more than 70 years. Designed and engineered in Britain, with an engine built in Wolverhampton, Defender Wolf Series II also delivers sovereign capability.”
Defender Wolf Series II also adds to the existing Defender Expert portfolio, which currently serves emergency organisations around the world including border force, police, military and fire, proving the vehicle’s versatility to operate in tough environments. Defender’s expert engineers have end-to-end control of Defender Wolf Series II’s engineering process and removing unnecessary complexity to produce a vehicle that meets military requirements for a new, modern fleet at pace and scale with enduring sovereign capability, backed up by JLR’s global supply chain.
Defender’s recent success at Dakar and a demonstration at the MoD’s independent testing ground, where it was the only vehicle to have successfully navigated all obstacles, shows the vehicle’s supreme off-road capability.

Editor’s Footnote: This release was scheduled in advance to coincide with the 16 September launch at DVD 2026 and later updated with JLR’s Launch and Tactical Mobility Vehicle images. By the time the covers were taken off for the launch I was already two hours into photography of other UK-LMV contenders at another location on the Millbrook site but returned later in the day to photograph all JLR variants on static display outside Concept 3. DVD is exceedingly busy this time with lots to cover so I intend uploading some of my own Wolf Series II images separately once my workload eases off.
