At the recent FEINDEF 25 expo in Madrid I had the opportunity to peruse the new Libyan National Army 24 Hours Halal Individual Ration, writes Bob Morrison.

The boxed ration pack seen here, which unfortunately I was unable to take away because it was one of the key display samples on the exhibitor’s trade stand, was assembled by the Spanish logistics and services provider Ucalsa for a recent Libyan supply contract. Very similar to the previously covered Angolan Ração Individual De Combate 2018 pack, it predominantly contains commercial-off-the-shelf components with the two main meals being canned. According to a company spokesperson, the recently awarded contract called for a choice of three different Menus.
From the enclosed Contents & Instructions Sheet, Menu No. 1 contains:-
- Breakfast: 1x 125g Sweet Crackers; 2x 25g Strawberry Jam; 2x 2g Instant Coffee Powder; 2x 10g Instant Drink Powder.
- Lunch: 1x 77g Tuna Flakes in Olive Oil; 1x 415g Chicken Stew; 1x 50g Peach Creme.
- Dinner: 1x 415g Chickpea Stew; 2x 25g Chocolate.
- Food Complement: 1x 125g Savoury Crackers; 1x 20g Isotonic Drink Powder; 4x 10g Sugar; 1x 0.2g Salt;1x 0,2g Pepper.
- Non-Food Complement: 1x Stove; 4x Fuel Tablets; 1x Matches; 4x Water Purifying Tablets; 1x Cutlery Set; 1x Tissues.
