It seems yesterday, which we have christened Meltdown Thursday, many in the PR world realised there were only seven sleeps left until Christmas, writes Bob Morrison.

We reckon the realisation that this year Christmas falls on 25 December must have woken up many issuers of defence sector press releases because the notifications symbol on the Inbox that JOINT-FORCES uses for receipt of such communications was flashing faster than Rudolph’s nose at the head of Santa’s reindeer team!
Normally we try to upload three to five News pages most weekdays but, even after sifting the wheat from the chaff and ditching a sackload of less interesting releases then setting a few more to one side for use on Friday, we still had to double up on two releases and overfill the Home Page with a sixth topic before noon. That done, we couldn’t really not publicise our friends at Defenture’s last minute news about the MAMMOTH order for Germany’s KSK, so a seventh story just had to be shoehorned in at the end of a 13-hour Thursday shift.
But enough is enough and at 20:30 Zulu following a now 14-hour shift, after finishing a couple of Features for future publication, yours truly decided to call it a day and head off to enjoy some ‘pigs in blankets’ washed down with a pint or two of Jem’s Stout in front of a log fire once this page was scheduled to go live first thing on Friday. Well, it is less than a week until Christmas after all.
Normal service might be a little slow in resuming*, but with news from Rheinmetall / ICEYE, Airbus Helicopters and Patria in the pool there should eventually be sufficient content uploaded to start filling Friday’s quota.

- Updated at 10:15 Friday and post removed from our Home Page to make room for more News, because on Thursday night I went easy on the Jem’s Stout (a lovely real ale from Great Newsome Brewery near Spurn Point in East Yorkshire) meaning that by 10:00 I had uploaded three more pages and needed to make more room on the Leaderboard. 🙂
