Some ladies like to show their shape and they can do just this while keeping warm with the Keela Zenita Pro jacket. Indeed the company emphasises this aspect, stating: “Putting curves in all the right places the Zenita is an ideal outer layer or, when conditions get cold, a versatile mid layer.” Jo, who tested and modelled this softshell jacket for us, tells me she has now had a number of favourable comments about this garment from her friends; always good for self-esteem.

Keela, as they often do, have upgraded and updated the materials of this popular jacket and are now using the redeveloped AirXtream fabric. This is a breathable and weather-resistant material with fleece backing, so works well as both a mid and top layer dependent on conditions. It is therefore a very versatile garment to have in the inventory.

The Zenita has a useful external chest pocket for the likes of mobile phone, compass and so on to keep them accessible. There are also two hip pockets for the likes of gloves. The jacket is available in a striking red, so good for the likes of mountain rescue teams and generally useful for helping the wearer show up if on the hill or out and about off the beaten track. Six sizes are produced, from UK8 through to UK18.

The back of this jacket is of scooped design so helps to protect the lower back when bending, which is always a good thing and especially when active. The front zip is a good one and can be used to fasten right up to the chin to incorporate the collar to offer a good level of weather protection. The material is a combination of fabrics and offers a soft feel when in direct contact with the wearer’s skin giving the Zenita and nice cosy feel.
