The Keela Women’s Storm Jacket, manufactured from Flylite Aqua fabric, is perfect for the active lady adventurer, writes Mike Gormley.

We don’t always need a heavy duty weatherproof jacket. Quite to the contrary, as the weather improves or we are away in warmer climates where we might get the odd shower, we need to just have something easy to pack away and take with us; as Jean did, ‘just in case’, for our trip to Morocco.

This said, we still need that jacket to be effective when the time comes. For the ladies the Women’s Storm Jacket covers all the bases and is shaped to suit. It is perfect for the active sportsperson as well as for those out and about in town or heading out for a day’s walk.

The Storm has a useful range of pockets; all, importantly, having waterproof zips. The principal and necessary ones on the chest and two side pockets are accompanied by a back pocket of the type favoured by cyclists, which is a really good size. The bottom of the back panel of the Storm has a scooped design so is able to protect the lower regions, especially when bent over or reaching.

A Storm Jacket, as the name might indicate, needs an effective hood and this one has. It has the necessary captive pull cord adjusters to help keep the storms on the outside when they come and there is also a volume adjuster on the back. The peak is internally wired to allow for shape adjustment. The front main zip is waterproof and does up high to give good weather protection, as it incorporated the collar and hood.

As mentioned above, the Storm Jacket is made from Keela’s Flylite Aqua material, which is light and breathable and, importantly, waterproof. By using this material Keela has been able to produce a very effective jacket for the active ladies which can easily be taken along as a ‘just in case’ or worn as a windproof over a base layer, or base plus mid layer, to give warmth as conditions dictate.

This jacket is Damson (shade difference here is merely down to light conditions when photographing first outdoors and then indoors) and there are three other colours to choose from plus five sizes, ranging from UK 8 to UK 18.
