Yesterday one of the JOINT-FORCES Team was given the opportunity to fire Rheinmetall’s new SSW40 40mm Squad Support Weapon, writes Bob Morrison.

The SSW40 has been displayed in prototype form at various defence expos over the last couple of years, but until yesterday we were unable to fire the pre-poduction version with live ammunition. Carl Schulze spent a day on the ranges at Unterlüß both photographing and firing the new weapon ~ as I had expected to be running around like a headless chicken in the run-up to the now postponed Annual Warrior Competition at KASOTC, I regrettably didn’t put myself down for the Rheinmetall facility. Our Senior Correspondent is now back home working on a full feature on the SSW40 which we plan to upload tomorrow morning.
