Another interesting new military utility 4×4 spotted at IDEX 2025 was the NGTV (Next Gen Tactical Vehicle) from US manufacturer GM Defense, reports Bob Morrison.

First unveiled in the United States at the AUSA 2024 expo last October, the NGTV or ‘Next Gen’ prototype is based on the General Motors Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD ZR2 truck. Click here for a little more detail.

Derived from a full-size American pick-up truck, with a lineage stretching back fifty years, the hybrid propulsion NGTV is possibly a little too large for British roads and is therefore in my opinion unlikely to be a main contender for the UK MoD Light Mobility Vehicle requirement; in the future though, once in full production, it might well be suitable for some more specialist roles. Out in the wide open spaces of the Arabian Peninsula, on the other hand, a utility vehicle of this size is more likely to find military customers and an agreement has already been signed to explore production in the Middle East.
This interesting pickup truck, of which there are several prototypes in two different body styles, has already been evaluated by the US Army in Germany (see NGTV-H Testing During COMBINED RESOLVE 25-1 for more).
