Commtact secures European contract for Phoenix Communication Systems for Tactical UAS, Enhancing ISR and Extended Range Operations.

Press Release, Yavne, 27 November 2024: Commtact Ltd., a global provider of advanced wireless communication solutions for defence, security forces, and robotic platforms, has been awarded a major contract to supply its Phoenix communication systems to a Tier 1 European NATO member country defence entity.

The Phoenix system will be deployed on a substantial number of tactical unmanned aerial systems (UASs), supporting communication ranges up to 180 km for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. This integration will offer advanced capabilities, thereby enhancing the customer’s operational capabilities in complex environments.

This order is expected to be followed by additional orders from the customer. The urgent requirement for resilient, reliable, and secure communication solutions strengthened Commtact’s position as the preferred supplier. Commtact was chosen for several reasons, including its extensive field-proven experience with the Phoenix systems and its capability to rapidly manufacture and deliver large quantities of advanced communication systems that meet demanding military standards for resilience and confidentiality. The Phoenix system is combat-proven, as well as in recent conflicts, having been installed on numerous platforms for various customers worldwide.

The Phoenix family includes variants optimised for short, medium, and long-range operations, allowing flexibility for various platforms from small drones to large UASs capable of operating over great distances. This versatility positions Commtact to meet future needs. The system operates in the C-band frequency range and offers high bandwidth data rates up to 8Mbps, providing robust and secure communications for military applications.
