The VOLVO FMX 8×8 truck shown at Eurosatory 2024 was a prototype featuring an armoured cab manufactured by NP Aerospace.

Specifications for the Volvo FMX 8×8 base model are:-

  • Cab: Driver and two passengers
  • Engine: Euro 3, 12.8 litre in-line 6 cylinder, 520hp, 2,500 Nm
  • Engine brake: Volvo Engine Brake (VEB+) with maximum brake power of 375 kW
  • Gearbox: I-Shift automated manual gearbox with ultra low crawler gears
  • Front axle: Parabolic leaf, 18,00 kg capacity (20,00 kg as option)
  • Rear axle: Leaf suspension with high ground clearance, hub reduction, 26,00 kg load capacity (32,00 kg as option)
  • Tyres: 395/85R20 terrain tyres with run flat and central tyre inflation system
  • Capacity: Technical gross vehicle weight 44,00 kg
  • Superstructure: Container handling unit (CHU)

The prototype armoured cab displayed at Eurosatory 2024 was produced by NP Aerospace:

  • Cab ballistic protection: level 2 or 3 STANAG 4569
  • Cab mine protection: level 2 or 3 STANAG 4569
