It has just been announced that the HENSOLDT XpellerGear portable variant of the counter-UAV detector/jammer system, which also provides protection against RCIEDs, will be unveiled at the French defence expo next week.
Press Release: At Eurosatory, the international defence and security exhibition in Paris, the sensor solutions provider HENSOLDT will be showcasing for the first time a portable version of its counter-UAV system Xpeller, called XpellerGear, which also can be used to provide protection against radio remote-controlled bombs, so-called RCIEDs (Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Devices).
The new configuration combines a radio detector with a jammer. As soon as the radio detector acquires a signal evidently controlling a UAV, the jammer can override this signal, thus severing the connection between the UAV and its operator. A smart detection algorithm with integrated signature database guarantees highly precise detection of all UAV-relevant signals and extremely short response times.
The modular Xpeller product family includes various sensors such as radar systems, cameras and radio frequency detectors as well as direction finders and jammers. Xpeller uses sensors to detect and identify a drone and assess its threat potential at ranges from a few hundred metres up to several kilometres. This enables the operator to take timely action against a possible threat.
The modular Xpeller system concept allows customised solutions to be created by combining individual devices from the product family depending on customer requirements and the local conditions. This means that the customer can select from a building set made up of radar, radio frequency and optical components together with various countermeasures. HENSOLDT can provide advice and support by analysing the weaknesses, for example, in order to help the customer to compile an individual security concept.
