Press Release, Seoul, 26 October 2026: Hanwha Aerospace held an Industry Day in Vilnius on October 23, bringing together defence industry representatives and local companies to advance industrial and technological cooperation with Lithuania’s defence industry.
Organised in cooperation with the Lithuanian Defence and Security Industries Association (LDSIA), the event attracted more than 80 participants from approximately 30 Lithuanian companies, marking an important step in Hanwha Aerospace’s efforts to build long-term industrial and technological partnerships in Lithuania.
During the event, Hanwha Aerospace presented its comprehensive portfolio of multi-layered air defence solutions, spanning short-, medium- and long-range capabilities. The company highlighted its integrated counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) approach, which combines advanced radar and electro-optical sensors, intelligent command-and-control (C2) systems, and a range of countermeasures to address evolving aerial threats.
Among the solutions introduced was the 40mm Wheeled Anti-Aircraft Gun (WAAG), a mobile air defence system designed to counter low-altitude threats, including drones and unmanned aircraft. The WAAG combines automated fire control, advanced target tracking and 40mm ammunition to provide an effective and cost-efficient response to aerial threats. To support potential industrial cooperation related to the WAAG, Hanwha Aerospace signed four memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Lithuanian companies. The agreements outline potential areas of cooperation, including vehicle integration with KMT, turret shell fabrication with Cosmos Construction, integration of C2 systems with NATO networks in cooperation with Nortal, and cable manufacturing with T&G Lithuania.
The Industry Day also featured presentations by Lithuanian companies, which introduced their technologies and industrial capabilities. Participants exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation through business networking sessions. In addition, Hanwha Aerospace joined LDSIA, further strengthening its engagement with Lithuania’s defence industry and creating opportunities for continued dialogue and cooperation with local companies.
Vaidas Sabaliauskas, LDSIA Director, said: “Lithuania is a small country, but we have a lot to offer. Our defence industry is growing very fast. We have strong companies, skilled engineers, and modern technologies. Hanwha brings great experience and advanced technology. We see great opportunities to work together in production, technology, research of new products.”
Senior Vice President Robert (Sangwon) Park, Head of Air Defence and Missile Launcher Systems Business at Hanwha Aerospace, said: “We see Lithuania as a long-term strategic partner and recognise the strong technological capabilities and potential of its defence industry. We aim to build lasting industrial partnerships with Lithuanian companies, exploring opportunities in technology transfer, joint development and lifecycle support, while contributing to Lithuania’s ambition to become a regional hub for defence manufacturing and maintenance in the Baltic region.”
