Press Release, Seoul, 11 March 2026: Hanwha will participate in BEDEX 2026 (Brussels European Defence Exhibition), taking place from March 12 to 14 in Brussels, Belgium. Hanwha aims to present its integrated air and missile defence (IAMD) capabilities and to further strengthen its foothold in the European defence market, building on strategic partnerships forged through K9 self-propelled howitzer exports and other programmes across NATO member states.
A centrepiece of Hanwha’s exhibition will be the L-SAM, a long-range surface-to-air missile system designed to engage ballistic missiles in the upper tier of the terminal phase at altitudes above 40 km. The system employs hit-to-kill technology, using kinetic energy to directly strike incoming targets — a method that delivers greater precision and destructive effectiveness than blast-fragmentation approaches and is currently fielded by only a handful of nations.
The L-SAM completed development in 2024 and entered mass production last year. By intercepting high-speed ballistic missiles at high altitudes, the system enables an immediate response to enemy threats. Hanwha plans to actively highlight its capabilities to provide rapid deployment support tailored to European nations, which are currently accelerating the reinforcement of their air defence systems.
Hanwha Aerospace will display the L-SAM Anti-Ballistic Missile and launcher, while Hanwha Systems will present the L-SAM’s multi-function radar (MFR), capable of simultaneously detecting and tracking both ballistic missiles and aircraft. Hanwha Systems will also exhibit both stationary and mobile laser weapon systems, together demonstrating Hanwha’s ability to deliver layered air defence coverage from short range to long range.
Hanwha Aerospace will also introduce the Chunmoo multiple rocket launcher system to the Western European market. The Chunmoo is a wheeled, highly mobile platform capable of firing a family of guided munitions covering a range of engagement distances. Its operator base among NATO member states has expanded in recent years from Poland to Estonia and Norway. At BEDEX, Hanwha Aerospace will display the Chunmoo launcher alongside four types of guided missiles designed for different ranges and mission profiles.
