Press Release, Versailles, 06 May 2025: Today marks the opening of DEFEA in Athens, a major international event for defence and security in the Mediterranean region. As a key supplier to the Greek armed forces, Arquus is proud to take part in this new edition and to present its proven and innovative solutions.
As a trusted partner, Arquus has already delivered 230 Light Armoured Vehicles (VBL) to the Hellenic Army. Renowned for their robustness and mobility, these vehicles will soon undergo a modernisation programme, carried out in cooperation with the Greek Army’s maintenance workshops. This is a concrete demonstration of Arquus’ commitment to providing long-term support to its partners and strengthening the strategic autonomy of its clients.
Arquus’ participation in DEFEA 2025 comes in the context of the strengthened strategic partnership between France and Greece. At the end of April, French Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu visited Athens to reinforce this relationship of trust between two allies sharing common interests in the Mediterranean. As an active player in this dynamic, Arquus is fully committed to supporting the growth and modernisation of the Greek forces, which are engaged in an ambitious upgrade of their land capabilities.
Thanks to a versatile range of vehicles capable of performing multiple missions, including troop transport, reconnaissance, and fire support, Arquus solutions are already proven and valued by the Hellenic Army. NATO-compliant, interoperable, and deployable in all environments, these tailor-made vehicles are adapted to meet the needs of Greek forces engaged in international operations.
Arquus is showcasing the SHERPA, a versatile tactical vehicle that has already won the trust of numerous armed forces worldwide, thanks to its outstanding robustness, exceptional mobility, and high adaptability. True international success, the SHERPA is currently deployed across multiple theatres of operation, where it consistently proves its performance under real-world conditions.
At DEFEA, it is displayed in its Weapon Station variant, fitted with the Hornet T1 remote-controlled turret and MBDA’s Akeron MP missile, perfectly illustrating Arquus’ expertise in systems integration. This systems integrator capability enables Arquus to offer its partners solutions tailored to the specific demands of every mission and every environment.
Beyond its range of vehicles, Arquus provides long-term strategic support with comprehensive Through-Life Support (TLS) solutions. Thanks to its unique expertise, Arquus is able to assist its partners over several decades by upgrading and modernising existing fleets, including VBL, VAB, and VLRA vehicles, and ensuring their availability throughout their service life. By developing local industrial partnerships, Arquus also helps strengthen the autonomy of armed forces by building national maintenance and support capabilities. This proven model is a key enabler in guaranteeing the sovereignty and operational effectiveness of its partners.
Arquus also aims to support Greece in its future projects, particularly the renewal of its light tactical vehicle fleet with modern solutions such as the new-generation VLRA, designed for military applications. By strengthening its local industrial partnerships, Arquus positions itself to contribute to Greece’s industrialisation and capability autonomy.
With its unique expertise in support and modernisation, Arquus is able to assist its partners over several decades, ensuring the availability and performance of their fleets. As a committed player in the Franco-Hellenic military partnership, Arquus stands ready to continue and deepen this strategic cooperation in support of the defence and security of the region.
