Following some complex scheduled maintenance, involving total data migration to a much larger server, we are back online with all guns blazing.
~
This morning we commenced a major maintenance programme, involving total migration to a new server, to both ensure much more space for our database and speed up load times for what is now a rather large and widely viewed resource. We chose today for this major work, as coincidentally did the UK National Lottery, because traditionally the first Sunday in August has been one of our quieter days of the year.
Jo and Nick who look after the technical side of JOINT-FORCES undertook a mountain of preparatory work and testing over the last week or so and around 07:30 today they started the complicated procedure to migrate the database to the new server.
Consequently for about five minutes from 14:40 BST the website was temporarily offline. As of 16:45 there is still a tiny bit of associated housekeeping to be undertaken, but essentially the job proceeded entirely as planned and for the last two hours everything has been running smoothly. Thanks guys 🙂
