Social Media Release, 01 October 2026: We’re pleased to announce that the Babcock General Logistics Vehicle (GLV) family, our solution for the British Army’s Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) programme, has been down-selected to progress to the next stage of the trials.
The GLV is based on the proven Toyota Land Cruiser LC70, a platform renowned worldwide for its practicality, durability and off-road capability. The vehicles are expertly modified by engineers at Babcock’s facility in Walsall to meet the needs of the modern soldier.
Our proposed solution for the LMV programme brings together Toyota’s proven reliability and global production scale with Babcock’s innovation, engineering expertise and deep understanding of defence customer requirements. This important milestone in the LMV programme coincided with a visit to Walsall from senior members of Toyota’s engineering team, highlighting the strength of the collaboration behind the GLV. The GLV is well positioned to provide the British Army with a highly capable and affordable fleet of vehicles while supporting around 400 jobs in Walsall and strengthening UK skills, industrial resilience and long-term sovereign support capability.
