Press Release, London, 24 September 2026: BAE Systems has been awarded a four-year framework agreement to supply artillery and armoured vehicle weapon system components in support of the UK Ministry of Defence. The agreement, awarded by Babcock Land Defence on behalf of the Ministry of Defence, reinforces BAE Systems’ long-standing role as a trusted partner to the UK armed forces, providing critical components that help sustain essential land capabilities, including the 105mm Light Gun.
The BAE Systems’ Light Gun is one of the world’s most battle-tested artillery capabilities, valued for its mobility and reliability. The framework agreement will support the continued availability of critical components for the UK armed forces across the Light Gun and wider artillery portfolio, ensuring equipment remains ready to meet operational demands.
“This agreement reflects the confidence placed in us as artillery experts and our commitment to supporting the British Army with world-class capability,” said Laurie Ellis, Managing Director, BAE Systems. “We are incredibly proud of our heritage in artillery design, manufacture and support, and of the skilled people across our business who ensure these critical capabilities remain available where they are needed most.
“The Light Gun continues to demonstrate value through its mobility, reliability and battlefield effectiveness. We are committed to continuing our support for this important capability and the service members who rely on it.”
The agreement follows BAE Systems’ continued investment in critical artillery capability in the UK, including work to restore domestic production capacity and support the delivery of British-designed 105mm and 155mm artillery barrels from Sheffield.
