From the product launch publicity brief:~ “Clearing the path for a new generation of products. Arktis ‘Elite’ is our spearhead into cutting edge fabric technology. Pushing the limits of performance, fit, & function.”

When visiting the company’s Exeter headquarters and factory a couple of weeks back I had the privilege of seeing first examples of the new Arktis Elite range, though I have not yet had the chance to try garments for myself, and I was very impressed by what I saw.

The B474 VULCAN Jacket is officially released at noon today, and available to purchase through the Arktis web store, reasonably priced at £200 plus VAT or £240 inc. VAT in Black (MultiCam costs a little more as licence fees on the camo pattern are incurred). A packable & lightweight insulating mid-layer, featuring PrimaLoft Gold insulation, paired with a windproof & water-resistant Nylon MiniRip to provide exceptional thermal efficiency & breathability without the bulk, even when wet, the VULCAN is designed to pack away into its own pocket when not in use. This jacket, said to be the most advanced thermal garment in the Arktis range, boasts 100gsm of Primaloft Gold across the body and 60gsm across the arms to give excellent thermal properties without the unwanted bulk. It features large front pockets with dual opening zips, providing flexibility, and internal slots provide convenient storage for mobile or comms units. Two side pockets feature concealed adjustment points that allow for easy use without the risk of them interfering with weapon draw. Finally, the spacious hood can be fully adjusted across three points and features a wired brim to give maximum control over fit to ensure no peripheral vision loss when worn.

I plan to come back to this jacket, which is now available in both Genuine MultiCam and Black, in more detail a little later in the year once I have had a chance to try it out in the field.
