Snugpak Softie Expansion 4 Sleeping Bag

The Snugpak Softie Expansion 4 is one cosy kip bag and was a most welcome part of my kit on a less than pleasant Dartmoor night recently, writes Mike Gormley.

This is concept I like. The Expansion 4 sleeping bag has two zips on one side of the closure which allows the user to have the bag zipped in tight around the body or, if preferred allows a bit more space to move about, or for extra ventilation you can choose the outer zip. This adds about 5 inches of width to the bag, which is lightly elasticated to keep you snug. Pretty simple really but a nice touch with definite practical benefits.

As ever from Snugpak, who are a renowned Yorkshire supplier of an extensive range of sleeping bags, it has some good features all there to help you have a good night’s rest. This bag, the No.4 in a range of 2 to 5, has a comfort rating of a realistic -10C. This makes it reasonably bulky, but this is controlled by the supplied stuff sack. An internal neck baffle is incorporated and of course there is a hood with drawcord so you can really cosy down in there on a cold night.

The hood also has a small pouch for the included LED light to save you the faff of finding a torch in the middle of the night. Thoughtful, those folk at Snugpak.
