VAUDE Proof 28 Waterproof Rucksack

I am not sure why it is that more rucksacks are not fully waterproof, writes Mike Gormley, but here is one from VAUDE that definitely is.

Quite small in capacity, at 28 litres, the VAUDE Proof 28 works well as a daysack and is clearly aimed at those who have to commute in dodgy weather as it has an internal slot for a laptop and pockets for a few other items of gear. Perfect for those many commuters who these days go work by bike and need to keep dry valued items and perhaps a change of clothes.

The Proof 28 is robust and I am sure will last for years. It is more or less a ‘dry bag’ with a roll top closure. The one I have is a good colour and has some reflective features for those commutes / activities taking place in low light or after dark. There is an external and easy access pocket which in turn is on a removable element so can be used independently. This is attached by straps that also work as compression straps. This also works as stowage for say a bike helmet or rolled jacket. A conventional ruck sack harness offers plenty of adjustment.

The VAUDE Proof 28 Waterproof Rucksack does precisely what it says it does. It is also available in Black for more tactical use.

Down here in Devon we call this weather Dartmoor Sunshine and waterproof gear is a necessity – the strap system is as for conventional rucksacks with padded shoulder straps, waistbelt and optional sternum strap, so the VAUDE Proof 28 is stable to carry [© Jean Gormley]
