The Free Enjoy Travel Mug with Straw Lid from Super Sparrow is a highly capable thoughtfully designed multifunction drink bottle, writes Mike Gormley.

This is a great travel mug from a wide range offered by Super Sparrow. This said it really is a great all-rounder as you don’t have to be a on a world trip for this to be a very handy insulated drinks container.
The model illustrated here is the 500ml or half litre version of this family of insulated travel mugs, perhaps appropriately for many readers in matt black, but plenty of other colours are available if you wish. Larger 750ml and smaller 350ml models are also available to suit all needs.
This is a very neat innovation and evolution of a drinks bottle and well-suited to the likes of those working from home, or at least on a computer, when it is good to have a drink handy but it is really not an option to spill any. The same could also apply when driving some distance and in need of a sip or two of warm caffeinated drink.
This flip top mug also incorporates a drinking straw so can be used in the upright position, with no tipping and tilting needed. Much more convenient and controlled. Although the flip lid forms a good seal, the food grade soft silicon tube is also bent over to further seal things against spillage. To be doubly sure the tube is gripped tight as well. The silicon drink tube is in two sections; the upper section passes through the top and there is another more rigid plastic dip tube that presses into this to get to the bottom of the bottle. You get two of these in case of loss. All can be taken apart to clean as required.
To open and close the flip lid is an easy one-handed job, another attribute if busy ‘doing’. The lid has a spring closure button which is simply released and shut and there is also a flip-over safety clip for added security when carrying in your bergen, daysack or bag.
The bottle is made from food grade 18/8 stainless steel so very robust. It has a double wall of stainless steel so is well able to retain heat or cold for plenty long enough to keep your valued drink just right for ages. All in all, a great drink flask for many uses. This one is now headed to a good friend who sadly has advanced MND and is unable to use his arms and hands to hold a mug so has to drink both hot and cold drinks through a straw; this one will be perfect for him, from a warming hot chocolate to a nice cool beer.
