This page is just a brief heads-up on the prototype NOVA Pro Mid-height Lightweight Boot which I was shown by the YDS team at Eurosatory, writes Bob Morrison.

Based on the already popular YDS NOVA Pro Shoe, which I am told has been selling like hot cakes on the Turkish company’s home market, this extended mid-height version should soon go into bulk production for those looking for a very light boot for base and not too demanding foot patrol use.

Over the last decade or so this style of ultralight, essentially trainer-derived, highly comfortable textile uppers boot with dual density injection moulded sole and breathable waterproof membrane has become increasingly popular with those who do not require a full-on combat boot to perform their duties but still need to wear smart looking functional footwear.

At this stage I have not been able to try out this six-inch (15cm) six-eyelet coyote tan light patrol boot as it has not yet been signed off for production, but my first impressions are that it could well be a winner for the Turkish police and military footwear and personal equipment manufacturer in 2027.

On the other hand I have been trying out a pair of more substantial construction YDS ASTOR TARGA mid-height boots and I’ll hopefully shortly bring you my thoughts on these.
