Press Release, Hinckley, 14 September 2026: Digital Concepts Engineering (DCE) will have 20 uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs) across DVD 2026, as the British robotics company demonstrates the growing role of its X-Series Universal Carrier across the Army and wider defence industry.
DCE’s X-Series will feature across eight stands during the two-day event, including several vehicles displayed with the British Army and systems integrated with a number of leading defence companies. The presence follows the British Army’s competed order earlier this year for fifteen X-Series Universal Carriers, establishing its initial operational UGV capability. Rather than technology demonstration alone, DCE’s focus at DVD is on how UGVs can be integrated, fielded and supported as part of wider land capability.

A range of X-Series configurations will be demonstrated, including logistics, fire support, breaching, ISTAR and CASEVAC roles. For the first time, DCE will also display an anti-tank configuration developed with MBDA, demonstrating the potential to integrate increasingly sophisticated mission systems and payloads onto a common UGV platform. X-Series will also feature with several companies involved in future British Army vehicle programmes, including JLR, INEOS, Babcock, BAE Systems, Edgar Brothers and NP Aerospace. The breadth of integration demonstrates the platform’s ability to operate as part of wider vehicle, logistics and mission-system architectures rather than as a standalone robotic system.
Several X-Series vehicles will be displayed on British Army stands, including variants previously deployed on Project Convergence Capstone in California this summer. Further X-Series vehicles are due to travel to Finland later this year for cold-weather trials with the Finnish Defence Forces.
DVD will also see DCE display the TerMIT UGV from Ukrainian manufacturer Tencore, reflecting a developing relationship between the two companies. Tencore brings extensive experience of producing UGVs for operational use in Ukraine, while DCE brings UK engineering, integration and support expertise. The companies are exploring opportunities to combine battlefield experience with the engineering, safety, integration and through-life requirements needed to meet UK and wider allied requirements. Also on DCE’s stand this year will be Eiselin Landsystems’ Sand-X Lynx – a multi-mission ground vehicle converted for autonomous use through the installation of DCE’s Marionette Universal Control System.

Mike McGinty, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Concepts Engineering, said: “For us, DVD is about demonstrating much more than a UGV. X-Series is now being delivered to the British Army, integrated with systems from across UK Defence and developed against real operational requirements.
“Seeing so many of DCE’s X-Series across Army and industry stands is powerful evidence of how quickly a common, adaptable UGV platform can become part of the wider land capability. DCE is a British company designing, developing and manufacturing this technology here in the UK, and our ambition is straightforward: to give the British Army the sovereign UGV capability it needs, at the scale it needs, while building a platform that can evolve with the threat and succeed with allied customers.”

Editor’s Footnote: This pre-DVD release slipped under our radar but as the X-Series Universal Carrier appeared to be almost everywhere attracting plenty of attention it seems only right to bring it to our readers’ attention even if a little late in the day.
