Press Release, Millbrook, 16 September 2026: MSI-Defence Systems, the British C-UAS and gunfire technology specialist, has announced the launch of MSI-DS TERRAHAWK RAPTOR.

Marking the UK debut at DVD 2026 (Millbrook, United Kingdom), RAPTOR was launched as the latest RWS and the lightest gun mount in MSI-DS’s line of specialist C-UAS remote weapon stations with UK sovereign IP. Designed and built to meet the evolving operational requirements of specialist C-UAS roles, RAPTOR is an advanced, fully integrated 7.62mm or 12.7mm Remote Weapon Station with 40mm Automatic Grenade Launchers (AGL) – compact, lightweight mount suited to a wide variety of deployments, including tactical ground vehicles and UGVs.

To meet the doubling growth in demand from key markets such as the UK, US, and EU, RAPTOR allows seamless integration on a wide range of tracked and wheeled platforms – rapid installation without compromising vehicle protection and mobility and suited to integration with vehicle systems through open standards such as GVA. Deployable on both military (legacy or new) and civil vehicles, RAPTOR is mission-ready to assume a wide range of roles from border protection to securing critical infrastructure.

To provide customers with a wider choice and reliability, RAPTOR can also integrate with a wide range of sensor options and can be adapted to the specific needs of various end users. The integrated sensor suite with multispectral optics enables RAPTOR to detect, track, identify, and defeat a wide range of incoming UAS threats and ground targets. RAPTOR is, therefore, suited to modular and scalable air defence deployments, while being compatible with multiple C2 systems for integration into complex, layered air defence networks. The AI-enabled Fire Control System (FCS) increases the effectiveness of on-board sensors and effectors, such as, Precision video target tracking, classification, shape learning and clutter mitigation, to overcome environmental and battlefield atmospheric elements.

David Codling, Business Development Director at MSI Defence Systems explains, “Conventionally speaking, RWS have been designed and deployed primarily for ground suppressive fire. RAPTOR is different; we have designed and built an RWS optimised for the C-UAS fight in addition to class leading ground suppression and point fire”.

“We have maintained laser focus on fine-tuning our portfolio of weapon systems to primarily meet the fast-growing demand for ‘specialist C-UAS systems’. With RAPTOR, we have optimised a lightweight, compact effector specifically for integration onto a wide range of vehicle platforms, including many on display here at DVD 2026”.

“Our UK Sovereign IP allows us to ensure independent operational control, supply chain resilience, and faster battlefield adaptation. Future developments will include the introduction of more gun-based weapon systems, alongside the RAPTOR architecture as a small modular launcher of interceptors, rockets, and small missiles”.

John Meldrum, Managing Director at MSI Defence Systems said, “The proliferation of explosive FPV and reconnaissance drones has necessitated armed forces to either retrofit legacy armoured vehicles or introduce new tactical units into the formation with lighter RWS. The market signals to us are two-fold – an RWS optimised for C-UAS operations, and factory optimised integration with mobile platforms from 4×4 vehicles through to tactical UGVs”.

John adds, “TERRAHAWK RAPTOR was designed to meet this need, and transform vehicle platforms into highly effective mobile air defence units capable of rapid response against swarming threats”.

“MSI-DS have continued to invest in the RWS programme as part of the commitment to provide armed forces with a proven, adaptable and cost-efficient layered defence against modern drone threats. TERRAHAWK RAPTOR will, without a doubt, strengthen air defence and maintain the edge as counter drone combat evolves for the leading armed forces around the world”.

“Our experience suggests Remote Weapon Stations are and will continue to remain at the forefront of transforming modern combat operations. Our fully integrated specialist C-UAS systems will meet the evolving needs of land and naval platforms to maintain their edge on the evolving battlefield and to combat new threats”.
