Press Release, Helsinki, 27 May 2026: Patria is prepared to support Lithuania’s plans to acquire modern 6×6 armoured personnel carriers as part of its potential participation in the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme. Through the multinational programme, Patria can provide a solution that combines proven vehicle performance with long-term industrial and operational benefits for Lithuania, enabling joint innovation and continuous development together with partners.

Technology transfer is a central part of Patria’s business model, in which armoured vehicle manufacturing expertise is transferred to local partners. This improves security of supply, strengthens Lithuania’s own industry, and provides a strategic competitive advantage. The CAVS programme is built on utilising the strengths of each countries’ own industry and close cross-border cooperation between participating countries.

“The Patria team has already worked locally with Lithuanian industry for over a year, and the collaboration has been very positive and active. We are very pleased on Lithuania’s decision to opt for the Patria 6×6 armoured vehicle platform through potential participation in the CAVS programme. Our ambition is to build a long-term partnership with Lithuania,” says Jussi Järvinen, Patria’s Executive Vice President of Protected Mobility.

“Patria has decades of proven expertise in the development of armoured vehicles and successful technology transfers across three continents and seven countries. We have held extensive discussions with various Lithuanian industry and potential partners across development, manufacturing, and maintenance capability, and Lithuania has all the needed capabilities for technology transfer,” Järvinen continues.

Launched in 2020 through cooperation between Finland and Latvia, the CAVS programme aims to deliver a joint, modern 6×6 armoured vehicle system based on Patria 6×6 vehicle. The programme is participated today by Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Germany and the UK. The deliveries have been made in Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Denmark and Germany, with vehicles being also operational in Ukraine.

Through the CAVS programme, participating nations can acquire modern armoured vehicles in a timely and cost-effective manner. The programme’s common approach enables shared procurement, coordinated product development and efficient life-cycle management. The CAVS programme remains open to European and NATO nations with comparable 6×6 armoured vehicle requirements.
