Press Release, Munich, 12 November 2025: KNDS Deutschland (KNDS) has been commissioned to manufacture 38 BOXER sgSanKfz (heavily protected ambulance vehicle) and ten BOXER driving school vehicles for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr).
The contract, which KNDS received as a subcontractor to ARTEC (OEM of the BOXER system and a joint venture between KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall Landsysteme), also includes an option for an additional 150 BOXER sgSanKfz and 100 BOXER driving school vehicles. The contract for the 48 systems is valued at €352 million. Delivery of the vehicles will begin in early 2028.
As the first link in the medical rescue chain, the BOXER Ambulance provides the basis for pre-hospital treatment. The variable ambulance mission module can accommodate a significant number of casualties, depending on the type of injury. Intensive care is also possible. The BOXER Ambulance offers the same level of protection for the crew as the BOXER infantry variant, making it one of the best-protected medical vehicles on the market.
The driver training vehicle serves as a training aid for obtaining a BOXER driver’s license. It is used exclusively for training purposes in peacetime operations. The driving behaviour and total weight of the driver training vehicle are virtually unchanged compared to the other BOXER variants, so the trained driver requires no additional familiarisation phase when switching to the different variants.
KNDS headquarters are based in Amsterdam
