Press Release, Seoul, 27 August 2025: Hanwha will present a range of advanced defence solutions at the International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) 2025, reinforcing its commitment to the Polish Armed Forces and defence industry. Building on the strong trust established through successful initial contracts, Hanwha will present a future cooperation model focused on technology transfer and local manufacturing to support Poland’s goal of defence sovereignty. Hanwha’s integrated booth will feature next-generation systems across land, sea, and air domains represented by Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Ocean, and Hanwha Systems.

Naval Solutions: Empowering Polish Naval Sovereignty

Hanwha Ocean will present its comprehensive proposal for the Polish Navy’s ‘Orka’ submarine program. The proposal is centred on the KSS-III Batch-II submarine, a 3,000-ton platform already deployed with the Republic of Korea Navy, demonstrating proven performance and reliability. The submarine is equipped with a state-of-the-art Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP) system and lithium-ion batteries, ensuring extended endurance and enhanced operational capability.

Hanwha Ocean will also present customised maritime solutions for Poland, including an export-type 2,000-ton Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), and a 500-ton unmanned mine warfare vessel, optimised for Baltic Sea and coastal operations. The offer is designed to maximise the participation of Polish industry through technology transfer and the use of Polish shipyards, establishing a sovereign capability to build and sustain advanced naval assets domestically.

Land Solutions: Proven Partnership, Future-Ready Platforms

Hanwha Aerospace, having successfully delivered K9 Self-Propelled Howitzers and Homar-K Multiple Rocket Launcher System, will highlight the next phase of land systems cooperation. An advanced variant of the K9 featuring a fully automated loading system, the K9A2 Self-Propelled Howitzer is to be showcased. The Next-Generation Infantry Fighting Vehicle will also be presented to meet the potential operational needs of the Polish Army.

These platforms represent a significant opportunity for expanded industrial partnership, including a planned joint venture with Polish company WB Group to establish a local hub for local production and development.

Satellite & Sensing Solutions: Enabling Networked Battlefield Operations

Hanwha Systems will display key enabling technologies for the modern battlefield. This includes a small Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite for all-weather, day-and-night surveillance and an Active Protection System (APS) designed to defend armoured vehicles against anti-tank threats These systems are proposed with a focus on technology transfer and integration with existing and future Polish platforms.

“We are honoured to join MSPO 2025, not just as a supplier but as a proven and reliable partner committed to the future of Poland’s defence industry,” said Mr. Son Jae-il, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace. “Having earned Poland’s trust by delivering on our promises, we are now building a deeper, more resilient partnership through extensive industrial cooperation that will reinforce Poland’s long-term security and defence ecosystem.”
