Press Release, London, 13 June 2025: BAE Systems secures contract with Swedish Armed Forces for 155mm BONUS munition. The award is valued at nearly $62 million (SEK 600 million).

This contract marks a continued partnership between BAE Systems Bofors and the Swedish Armed Forces, reinforcing their shared commitment to delivering cutting-edge defence solutions. BONUS enhances the long-range capabilities of 155mm cannon artillery by accurately destroying enemy combat vehicles, including armoured personnel carriers, self-propelled guns, infantry fighting vehicles, and main battle tanks.

“This contract for additional BONUS projectiles to Sweden, the third since 2017, reinforces our long-standing partnership with the Swedish Armed Forces,” said Henrik Knape, ammunition sales director at BAE Systems Bofors. “We are committed to delivering a trusted solution that strengthens their indirect fire capability and keeps their warfighters safe.”

BONUS stands out as a highly effective fire-and-forget munition that deploys two sensor-fused submunitions capable of independently identifying and neutralising armoured targets within a footprint of up to 32,000 square metres. With a maximum range of 35 kilometres when fired from a NATO L52 gun, BONUS combines high precision with effective action against moving targets. This makes it particularly suitable for integration with advanced artillery systems like BAE Systems’ ARCHER.

Developed in collaboration with Nexter Systems, BONUS has been adopted by several nations, including Finland, France, Norway, Sweden, and the United States, emphasising its reliability and versatility on the modern battlefield.
